Welcome to the final week of home schooling!!!
Spellings: Rule 25: cious/tious suffixes.
Use the powerpoint below to explore when to use the suffixes cious or tious. Can children explain the rule for how to choose which suffix to use? As always, watch out for those tricky words that don’t follow the rules!
Encourage pupils to practise their times tables by clicking on the link below. This will give 10 questions based around recall of the times tables facts.
You could also try selecting division to practice using your knowledge of times tables to solve related division questions.
White Rose Maths
Note: this week there are separate lessons for year 4 and year 5 children.
Year 4: Subtract 2 fractions
Click on the link below to watch the video tutorial about subtracting fractions with the same denominator.
Then, complete the worksheet below (Y4 Maths Monday). You could print it off and write on the worksheet, or write the answers on paper/exercise book, but remember to number your answers clearly so your parents can check you are correct.
Parents: I have also uploaded the answer sheet (Y4 MATHS ANSWERS) for you to refer to.
Year 5: Add fractions
Today you will be adding fractions with different denominators and writing your answers as mixed numbers and improper fractions. You will need to use your knowledge of equivalent fractions to help you.
Click on the link below to watch the video tutorial to learn about how to add fractions with different denominators and write answers as mixed numbers and improper fractions.
Then, complete the worksheet below (Y5 Maths Monday). You could print it off and write on the worksheet, or write the answers on paper/exercise book, but remember to number your answers clearly so your parents can check you are correct.

This week is world book week, (world book day is officially Thursday) so, you are all going to become authors and write your own books!
This week, we are going to be taking inspiration from the author of the ‘How to train your dragon’ series, Cressida Cowell.
Watch the two videos below, to learn a bit about Cressida Cowell and to hear the prologue and the first chapter of ‘How to train your dragon.’
Then, complete the VIPERS reading comprehension questions, making sure your write your answers clearly.
I have also uploaded a copy of the text for the prologue and chapter 1 for you to refer to. It doesn’t have the illustrations, therefore the page numbers are different.
Another chance to get creative and messy! This week, you are going to have a go at making skin, bones and muscles using items you should be able to find at home. Follow the instructions on the PDF below to make a model showing bones, muscles and skin. Can you take a photo/draw a diagram of your model, labelling each part and clearly explain the function of bones, muscles and skin. Remember to use the correct scientific vocabulary in your explanations.
