Years 2/3 Key Stage1/2
Teacher: Mrs Stainer
TAs: Mrs Smith/Mrs Scott
We cannot believe that we have already got to the Summer term! The children worked incredibly hard last term and we are very proud of their achievements.
Our topic for this term will have a Geography focus ‘Volcanoes and Earthquakes’. The Children will learn about how volcanoes are formed and where in the world there are dormant and active volcanoes. They will also study how earthquakes develop and how the Earth is made up of four layers.
In English our learning will focus on Explanation texts and our narrative focus will be Fantasy based.
In Maths children will be focussing on learning their times tables and telling the time. We will also cover measures, place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division.
In Wise Owl Class homework will consist of:
Learning Logs, these are given to the children each week and are to be handed in on the following Friday.
Learning logs contain the children’s homework for the term and children can choose and complete any of the tasks each week.
Spellings will be given to the children every Friday and checked on the following Thursday. Spellings will be tailored to your child’s ability.
Reading – Please could your child read to you at least 3 times a week and be noted in their reading record.
PE is now on a Thursday, Years 2 and 3 will be swimming on Thursday morning and Thursday afternoon Wise Owls will be doing street dance. Please could you ensure a named PE kit is brought into school on a Monday and taken home at the end of the week?
In addition to this we have started a daily 5 minute run (weather permitting). This helps the children to focus and adds a pleasant start to the morning, not to mention keeping us all fit.
No jewellery to be worn on PE days, including pierced earrings please.
