This is our first week back after the Easter break (due to our fab residential last week) and so we had lots to catch up with! Carly was given the task of recording our jobs in the Gardening Club diary and taking photographs to show our progress.
We began at school with Caiden and Oscar sewing some melon, sweetcorn and runner bean seeds whilst Gracie-May took lavender cuttings from one of our 'tired' older woody plants. Bethany, Annika, Kayla, Beth and Caileigh were all on weeding duty, and with the help of Mrs Funnell thinned out the radishes and tidied around the carrot and beetroot seedlings. We were delighted to be able to sample our first radishes too!
Once everything was watered and tucked up in our mini greenhouse it was time to head down to the allotment where we put our first onion set in and watered our potato plants To our surprise they were already pushing their way through the soil so we need to keep them watered well now!
We also noticed that the purple sprouting broccoli plant had gone to seed and was now taller than Oscar! Unfortunately we needed to pull it up so that we have space for planting our peas, but that will just have to wait until next week.
