This week we were very excited to be able to visit our new alotment plot! There is a lot of work to do, but we are looking forward to being able to make a start clearing it of all the long grass and brambles so that we can begin to plan our planting! Whilst visiting the plot we were given some sweetcorn cobs and ridge cucumbers to sample by one of our new alotment neighbours - they were deliscious!
Back at school we spent some time learning how to divide perennials - geranium and day lily clumps - and tidying our vegetable plot. We pulled the pea plants up as they have now finished cropping and also weeded around the tomato and bean plants as they are looking really healthy now we've had some rain. Our carrots are growing well, we pulled one to try, plus a couple of our tomatoes were beautifully ripe so we picked these too for our tasting.
Finally, we decided to make some wild bird feeders for the wildlife garden - very messy but great fun! Unfortunately I forgot to take some photographs of this!
