This week we had some different jobs to be doing in and around the garden. Over the past few weeks we have been collecting egg shells to help protect our peas from the slugs and so Daisy, Carly and Sarah-Jane crushed them up and scattered them on the ground around where the peas are growing ... fingers crossed this works! Caiden, Oscar and Beth all flexed their muscles and collected some large stones kindly donated by Oscar's mum and dad to act as a barrier to help stop the water running off the vegetable garden, we lifted one of our potato plants that had been damaged as a test to see if they were ready yet - and we were pleasantly surprised, although we have decided to give the rest a couple weeks longer! On Friday afternoon we cooked our first new potatoes and they were DELICIOUS!
We also had plenty of watering to do and needed to top up our wildlife pond as all the heat had made the water level drop. Phew, another warm evening with plenty to do, well done everyone!
